I have previously spoken about the 100 thing challenge, which may be a bit more extreme than I am capable. It simply is an attempt to reduce the total number of items one owns to bellow 100. I also had looked into the idea of the 500 things challenge, which while more forgiving may still be a bit out of reach. Getting rid of 500 items would require me to toss more than half of the stuff I own. Instead I have decided to get rid of 30 items every month (regardless of the length of that specific month). This will result in ridding myself of 360 pieces of clutter by the end of the year.
I think this may end up being the most difficult resolution for me to stick to. I, as with many americans, love my stuff. However, after taking a class on conservation I have been making a conscious effort to not purchase items I have no real need for. I have finally decided to take this to its logical conclusion of getting rid of items previously purchased, and never used. I will keep you updated as the year goes on as to my progress on this goal.
For the holidays I mostly asked my mother for clothing, since i have been needing more sweaters (and had lost my only sweatshirt). However, aside from two sweaters i ended up getting money. I spent some of this money on some excellent after New Years sales and thought i would share my purchases with you.

I have been considering a meal plan for the past few weeks. However, living along i am not entirely sure I can make a cost-effective plan that would also give me a wide variety of foods. This post is pretty short, since I just want to know if anyone who lives alone has successfully done a meal plan that would fit the inexpensive and variety filled criteria.
The last 4 months of 2010 I became fairly proficient at sticking to a budget, and as a result have decided to make an active effort at sticking reducing the amount of money I am spending.
Food & Dinning – $150
Savings – $100
Gas and Car Needs – $75
Shopping – $60
Entertainment – $40
Pet Supplies – $35
Personal Care – $20
Gifts – $20
I have chosen to omit my larger costs, such as rent, car payments and health care costs from this list. Also this budget has the potential to be changed should my pet cat become ill and need an expensive treatment, or if I need car repairs. Additionally the goal of this budget is an effort to increase my savings, and by relation my emergency fund.
It has only been one day and I am allready burnt. I have purchased a higher SPF sunscreen, however how do you who are extremely pale (is nc10 in MAC) prevent sunburn?
